Before becoming a physician, Dr. Iqbal worked as a cytotechnologist — analyzing cells under a microscope, looking for what others missed. That forensic attention to detail never left her. Today she applies the same mindset to metabolic health: looking at the full picture of your labs, hormones, lifestyle, and history to find the root cause, not just the symptom.
She trained in internal medicine at Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati and went on to practice primary care and hospital medicine at Duke Health, where she developed her approach to weight management as a clinical discipline — not a lifestyle program. She continues to practice moonlighting shifts at Duke, keeping her clinical skills sharp across a broad range of patients and conditions.
She founded Crabtree Health because she saw what was missing in traditional primary care: time, coordination, and a plan that treated the whole patient. Here, every patient gets a physician who actually listens, labs that actually matter, and a team that stays with them.
